Empowering Artisans, Strengthening Communities

At Care Studios, every handcrafted piece tells a story—not only of South Africa’s rich cultural heritage, but also of resilience, creativity, and opportunity.

We partner with talented artisans, many of whom face limited access to stable employment and economic opportunities. Through fair compensation, ongoing support, and investment in their families and communities, Care Studios and DTCare work together to help artisans build brighter futures for themselves and the next generation.

Financial Support & Sustainable Income

For many artisans, access to traditional employment can be limited. Care Studios creates meaningful income-generating opportunities by connecting artisans to global markets and ensuring they are fairly compensated for their craftsmanship.

Our artisans earn income through the creation of authentic handmade jewelry, home décor, handbags, and beaded sculptures that celebrate South African culture and artistry. We work closely with artisan leaders to ensure transparency in pricing, equitable distribution of work, and timely payments.

In addition to earnings from product sales, the artisan team receives weekly transportation and food allowances generously funded by Ralph Ziman. By helping cover essential daily expenses, these allowances allow artisans to retain more of their income for their households, education costs, and long-term financial goals.

Through fair compensation, market access, and ongoing support, Care Studios helps artisans build sustainable livelihoods while preserving the cultural traditions reflected in their work.

Healthcare & Well-Being

Economic empowerment goes hand in hand with personal well-being. Through regular communication and in-person visits, Care Studios and DTCare remain connected to the challenges artisans face in both their professional and personal lives.

As part of our commitment to artisan well-being, a qualified nurse from a local private clinic visits our artisan team at the Randburg studio every two months. Funded through the support of Ralph Ziman and DTCare, these visits provide access to basic health assessments, wellness screenings, and practical health education.

During these sessions, artisans receive guidance on preventive healthcare, nutrition, and personal wellness, while also having the opportunity to discuss concerns and receive professional advice in a supportive environment. By bringing healthcare education directly to the studio, we help reduce barriers to care and support the well-being of artisans and their families.

Education & Opportunities for the Next Generation

At DTCare, we recognize that lasting change begins with investing in children and young people.

Through educational programs in South Africa and Zimbabwe, DTCare helps support vulnerable children by providing access to education, school fee assistance, learning resources, and opportunities that encourage long-term success. Whenever possible, this commitment extends to the children of artisan families.

By helping young people stay in school and pursue their goals, we contribute to breaking cycles of poverty and creating opportunities that can last for generations.

More Than a Purchase

When you purchase from Care Studios, you support more than a handcrafted product. You help create sustainable income for artisans, preserve traditional African craftsmanship, expand access to healthcare and educational opportunities, and strengthen communities across South Africa and Zimbabwe.

Together, we are building a future where creativity, culture, and opportunity can flourish.
